Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very event filled Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday after shopping at Valley Fair, we stopped off at the Rose Garden in San Jose where acres of roses of all imaginable colors were in bloom. Then we went across the street to walk around the grounds of the Rosecrucian Egyptian Museum. On Sunday, we took our bikes out for a 12 mile ride along the Sawyer Camp trail in San Mateo county. We started from Crystal Springs up toward the dam in Millbrae. On Monday, we left early and headed to the beach. We first wanted to head to Gray Whale cove but it was closed due to the Devil's Slide landslide, so we drove down the coast to San Gregorio State Beach.

Toby at the Rose Garden in San Jose. My favorite are the yellow/peach roses.

What pretty magenta roses.

We search for a perfect yellow rose, we didn't find one. Oh well, there were numerous other roses to appreciate.

The oranate entrance makes yo feel you're in Egypt.

I drive my new bike along the flat paved trail of Sawyer Camp Trail.

We traveled much further than we normally do when only walking. Here we reach the end of Crystal Springs.

We drive up the valley up a steady grade up to the San Andreas Dam in Millbrae. Then we head back. A total of 12 miles.

On Memorial Day we head to San Gregorio beach on the San Mateo coastline.

Most of the beach was empty.

We walked ALL the way to the end of the beach where the sea cave entered the cliffs.
