Day trip to Memorial Park

On a cloudy overcast day we drive over the hill to visit Memorial Park. This park is nestled in the grove of coastal Redwood trees on the San Mateo coast.

Upon entering the park we walk down to the swimming area which is damned up during the summer months.

The low flowing river was a gently flowing past the swimming area.

We walked along the river where some planks were layed out to cross the river.

The trickling stream was perfect if you wanted to create a dam out of rocks... like I did.

We crossed the stream again but this time over rickety branches.

Of course we encountered the famed banana slug!
