Hike to Carson Falls in Marin County

On a beautiful clear and warm January day we head up to Marin County to hike to Carson Falls, one of the many falls in the Marin County Watershed. After the recent rains the creeks were full of water and numerous waterfalls were accessible in these open lands. We chose Carson Falls since it seemed like a relatively easy hike. We drove over the Golden Gate from San Francisco and drove up a narrow windy road frequently used by road bikes. Once we parked the car we ascended up the hil along the fireroad until we saw the trail head down toward the falls. There were interesting change in vegatation and terrain during the hike. Once at the waterfall we marveled at the numerous cascades the small creek made until the final larger drop. We walked further down the trail where Carson Creek meandered through dense grove of trees full of ferns. We were getting lost not knowing where the trail ended so be backtracked back toward the falls and back to the car.

On our drive back we stopped along Lincoln drive in San Francisco for spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge. We then walked along the trail almost down to the beach for a different view of the bridge. It was a beautiful warm winter day to be out and about.
