2012 US Figure Skating Championships - Women’s Short Program

The US Figure Skating Championships were held in San Jose this year. Kelly and I attend the women's short program. I last attended the US Championships last time it was held here in San Jose in 1996, the year hometown athlete Rudi Galindo won the men's program during a phenomenal performance.

We met up with Ivan and his skating friends Nathan and Skylar. We 'snuck' into the lower section for wonderful seats four rows from the rink behind commentators Sandra Bezic and Scott Hamilton. From this position I took some great photos of the competitors.

Last year's champion, Allisa Czisny came in second place after singling a required double axel. Agnes Zawadski gave a solid performance executing a triple toe-triple toe combination and a high triple lutz. Caroline Zhang gave a phenomenal performance which brought us to our feet. She executed a clean triple loop-triple loop. One of her jumps was downgraded with resulted in her fourth place performance.
