Superman Ultimate Flight Media Day

I attended the media event for the opening of the new coaster Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. The ride is a one-of-a-kind multidirectional launch coaster from Premier Rides. It features one of the tallest inversions at 150 feet in the US and has a unique lap/ankle restraint that leaves the riders shoulders free (comfortable ride).

That Friday I head up early to the park where it initially was overcast with a chill in the air but soon gave way to bright clear and warming skies. I met up with fellow ACE'ers Cody, Dan, Nicholas, Taylor and others at the event. The private event was fully catered with a nice spread of breakfast and lunch foods and small cupcakes in the shape of the Superman logo. The park president Dale Kaetzel then introduced head coach for the 49ers Jim Harbaugh who just rode the ride (and a coaster fan!). The ride then opened up to the small group of invited guest and media. Numerous cameras where set on the ride to capture video B-rolls and rider reactions. Video was taken of Dan and myself using specially mounted GoPro cameras. Media relations for the park did a wonderful job of putting together a special kick off event for the new attraction. Everyone got a special messenger bag full of promotional goodies and even a Superman cape (which I wore!) It was a fun morning at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, hanging out with fellow ACErs and experiencing the new ride: Superman: Ultimate Flight.
