Disney Vacation Day 1

(Use above nativation bar for quick access to specific days)

Thursday was our travel day south to Anaheim for our Disneyland weekend. Brent, Laurie, Joy and Mary departed on Southwest from San Jose while Toby and I took a Southwest flight from San Francisco. An impending storm front was descending upon Northern California and we were hoping to escape the brunt of it with our trip to Southern California. The San Jose Southwest flight left without a hitch, our flight unfortunately got cancelled due to weather and we had to wait an additional four hours before the next Southwest flight to Santa Ana.

Our flight arrived past 5pm. We took a shuttle van through the busy rush hour traffic to our hotel, Disney's Grand Californian. By this time Brent and Laurie had already been inside Disneyland a couple hours, Mary and Joy were watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2 at the AMC in Downtown Disney.

Our room was well appointed and good size (for a Disney property) with two queen beds and a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. We were on the fourth floor (Rm. 4225). Brent and Laurie also stayed at the Grand Californian. Joy and Mary stayed at the Quality Inn hotel nearby on Katella.

We all agreed to meet up at 8pm in Downtown Disney where we had a good Mexican meal at Tortilla Jo's. Afterwards we strolled through Downtown Disney and spent time in the large Lego store. We all departed ways after the Lego store, Toby and I walked past the AMC theaters and saw the ice skaters in the outdoor rink. Back in the hotel we strolled around the lobby and the walkways above the lobby for views looking down at the Christmas tree.
